It is Always Well With the Righteous

APRIL 14

Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them.”
(Isaiah 3:10)

It is always well with the righteous. If it had said, “Say to the righteous that it is well with him in his prosperity,” we would be grateful for such a blessing, since prosperity comes with its own dangers, and it is a gift from heaven to be protected from its pitfalls. Alternatively, if it had stated, “It is well with him when under persecution,” we would appreciate the comforting assurance, as persecution can be challenging to endure. However, since no specific time is mentioned, it encompasses all time. God’s promises are meant to be understood in their fullest meaning.

From the beginning of the year to the end, from the first gathering of evening shadows until the morning star shines, in all situations and circumstances, it shall be well with the righteous. It is so well with him that it is challenging to imagine it being any better. He is well-fed, nourished by the flesh and blood of Jesus; he is well-clothed, wearing the imputed righteousness of Christ; he is well-sheltered, dwelling in God; he is well-unioned, as his soul is bonded in a marital union with Christ; he is well-provided for, for the Lord is his Shepherd; and he is well-endowed, as heaven is his inheritance.

It is well with the righteous—this assurance comes from divine authority, validated by the mouth of God. Oh beloved, if God declares that all is well, then even if a thousand devils insist otherwise, we can dismiss them with confidence. Blessed be God for a faith that empowers us to trust Him even when others contradict His words. The Word reassures you that it is always well with you, righteous one. If you cannot perceive this truth, let God’s Word serve as your sight. Believe it with greater confidence than you would if your own eyes and feelings confirmed it. Whom God blesses is indeed blessed, and what He declares is truth—certain and steadfast.
