“If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him.”
(Revelation 3:20)

What is your desire this evening? Is it focused on heavenly things? Do you long to experience the profound doctrine of eternal love? Do you yearn for close communion with God? Do you aspire to understand the heights, depths, lengths, and breadths of His love? If so, you must draw near to Jesus. You need to gain a clear sight of Him in His preciousness and completeness; you should view Him in His work, His offices, and His person.

He who understands Christ receives an anointing from the Holy One, enabling him to know all things. Christ is the master key to all the chambers of God. There is no treasure-house of God that will not open and reveal its wealth to the soul that lives close to Jesus.

Are you saying, “Oh, that He would dwell in my heart!” or “Would that He would make my heart His permanent dwelling place?” Open the door, beloved, and He will enter your soul. He has long been knocking, seeking to sup with you, and you with Him. He dines with you because you prepare the space in your heart, and you dine with Him because He brings the provisions.

He could not dine with you if your heart were not open to Him, nor could you share a meal with Him without His provision. So fling wide the doors of your soul. He will come with the love that you long to feel; He will bring the joy that seems unattainable to your weary spirit. He will offer the peace that you currently lack. He will come with His gifts of love, cheering you until the only affliction you know is that of “love overpowering, love divine.”

Just open the door to Him, drive out His enemies, and give Him access to your heart, and He will dwell there forever. Oh, wondrous love that brings such a guest to dwell within such a heart!
